street style: maria

If you're wondering why this young lady is wearing a jacket and tights in summer, it's because I took these photos a shamefully long time ago (October?) and I'm very sorry. This is the adorable Maria, who insisted on hiding her face. She was at Cafe Myriade, an awesome board game cafe in Northbridge, Perth. I was very taken with her colour combination of bright pink tights, orange quilted jacket, pink and yellow shorts and bright blue Real Monsters t-shirt. My favourite style note at the moment is bright colours, preferably a little bit clashing, and she made my eyes happy.

Oh, and did I mention Yo Gabba Gabba sneakers?!? What an awesome lady!

boooooooooots

I found my cowboy boots! After searching without success for ankle-high flat-heeled cowboy boots, I came across these Blowfish Tulsa boots on asos.com. I remembered my friend Liz buying a pair of Blowfish boots so after consultation I took the plunge (they were on sale for $60 so I couldn't resist). I am a size 8 and ordered UK size 7 (which, as it turns out, I need to wear thick socks with, so I could probably go down to 6).

These boots are SO COMFY. I have actually been wearing them around the house on cold days, and I rarely wear shoes indoors. The soles feel like they have gel insoles. And they're still $60 with no shipping!

Now all I need is a shapeless, floral-printed dress and a long brown wig and I can unleash my Prairie Lunatic look on the streets!

want

Yesterday while waiting for the bus I saw a lady wearing something I have never seen before: cowboy boots, but tiny! Ankle boots, but cowboy! MINI COWBOY BOOTS.

This may be old news to you, but it's a revelation to me. I want to go boots shopping RIGHT NOW! I am so ready for autumn, even though it's still around 30 C (86 F) in Perth. Luckily I am broke, so no boots for me (YET).

I read a bunch of webpages about ankle boots, because I have never owned any, and they all said that if you're short and fat you should stay away from them. But I really want these boots, and who cares anyway. I will be a little fat cowboy in my little fat boots, and I will be happy.

Anyway this is making me want to dress in long, shapeless dresses and dusty boots and long hair and a faraway look in my eyes. I call this look Prairie Lunatic:

P.S. If you are a disco star, you can get the Nicoles in silver and invent Space Prairie Cowboy Lunatic Chic! Please do this so I don't have to.
